Two easy via ferratas on Nuvolau and Averau that combine wonderfully into a well-rounded day tour in the Dolomites.

The two via ferratas on the Averau and the Nuvolau can either be done separately or perfectly combined. Although the summits are not among the highest in the region, they still offer a magnificent panorama of the surrounding Dolomite 3000-metre peaks, some of the best known of which are right nearby.
A tour suitable for both beginners and families that promises a rewarding, adventurous day, topped off with a lovely circular hike and varied via ferrata sections along the way. All of this in the midst of a glorious Dolomite landscape around Passo Giau, Ra Gusela and the striking rock formations of the area.

PROGRAMME
Day tour: Nuvolau and Averau
The starting point is the Cinque Torri hut, which can be reached by car. At the car park we briefly check the gear and hand out any rental equipment if needed. We then climb along the path towards Passo Giau. After the turn-off to the Ra Gusela via ferrata, we soon reach the start of the first via ferrata. Here we put on our harnesses and helmets and attach our via ferrata sets. You can also be belayed on the mountain guide's rope at any time.
The first via ferrata is perfect for warming up and is in the easiest via ferrata category. After another hiking interlude, we reach the via ferrata up the Nuvolau, where a hut and a wonderful panorama await us on the summit. Here we stop for refreshments and enjoy the view. Afterwards we can decide whether to add the slightly more difficult via ferrata up the Averau or call it a day and descend to the starting point. A lovely day in a dream setting, which can be made longer or a little shorter depending on how you feel.

Is the tour suitable for beginners or families?
Yes, the via ferratas on Nuvolau and Averau are well suited to beginners and families with mountain experience. The difficulties remain moderate, and as it is a guided tour, the pace can be adapted to the group.
Is it possible to do just one of the two via ferratas?
Yes, that is easily possible. Depending on fitness, weather or how you feel on the day, the tour can be adapted flexibly. You can focus on one summit or combine both if the conditions and the group are right.
What do I need to bring for the tour?
Above all, sturdy mountain boots and clothing suited to the weather are important. The exact packing list comes with your confirmation email. Via ferrata equipment can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
