Mezzocorona - Burrone Gorge via ferrata: this lovely classic high above Mezzocorona leads through a deep gorge in outstanding scenery. Thanks to the low difficulty, the relatively short approach and the option of taking a spectacular cable car back down to the valley, it is an ideal family via ferrata and also perfectly suited to children from about 8 years of age.

PROGRAMME
Once we have parked the car, briefly checked our gear and packed our rucksacks, we set off towards the entrance to the Burrone Gorge, where this superbly built via ferrata begins. A varied route awaits us, leading right through the deep canyon – at times directly along the riverbed, at times climbing on the walls above it.
That is exactly what makes the tour so entertaining: it never gets monotonous, and around the next bend there is usually a new challenge waiting. The new suspension bridge and the final cable car ride back down into the valley round off the experience for children and families too, and make for happy faces at the end of the day. This makes the Burrone Giovanelli a great day out in the fresh air.

Is the via ferrata suitable for children?
Yes, the Burrone Giovanelli is a very good family via ferrata and is generally suitable for children from about 8 years of age, provided they are sure-footed and enjoy moving on rock. The varied gorge and the cable car ride at the end in particular usually go down really well with children.
How strenuous is the tour?
The tour is fairly short overall, but with 700 m of ascent it is still more than just a stroll. The via ferrata is technically moderate but requires concentration and a little stamina. It is very manageable for beginners with mountain experience and sporty families.
What equipment do I need?
For the via ferrata, you mainly need suitable via ferrata gear and sturdy shoes. The detailed packing list comes with the confirmation email. Any missing equipment can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
