PROGRAMME
Day tour: taster day on the ice
We meet in the morning for coffee at a bar near the icefall where we will go ice climbing. We choose the icefall depending on temperature and ice conditions. In the warmth of the bar, we go through the plan for the day at a relaxed pace and check the equipment.
Then we set off to the foot of the frozen lines, where we can climb to our heart's content all day on routes of varying difficulty. We set up the lines as a top rope so that you can try ice climbing at your own pace. This gives you an exciting and enjoyable insight into this world, without any pressure to perform. It's all about trying things out, understanding the movement and getting a feel for the ice, the tools and your first metres on the frozen wall.
Any changes to the programme that may become necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, availability of accommodation, etc.) are always made in consultation with the participants.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
Do I need any previous experience for the taster day?
No, you don't need any ice climbing experience for this taster day. If you enjoy trying new things and have normal mobility, that is all you need. The day is designed precisely to give you a first, relaxed taste.
What equipment do I need to bring myself?
Warm winter clothing and sturdy mountain boots are the most important things. You will receive the exact packing list with your confirmation email. Technical equipment can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
Where does the taster day take place?
The exact icefall is only decided at short notice, because temperature and ice conditions are crucial. This way we can choose suitable terrain where you can try ice climbing properly and enjoy it.
