Near Cavalese lies the Ferrata dei Laghi, a little classic that is perfect for getting started. Behind an idyllic mountain lake rises the Castel del Bombasel, a small summit whose rocks carry a perfect via ferrata for beginners and families.
High above Cavalese lies the Alpe Cermis, easily reached from the village by cable car. After a short walk you find yourself right in the middle of a glorious mountain world. Several lakes, friendly terrain and the varied route make this an enjoyable day for young and old alike. If you would like a first taste of via ferrata climbing without things getting too serious straight away, this tour is an excellent choice.

Day tour: Ferrata dei Laghi
From Cavalese we take the cable car up to the Alpe Cermis. From there we hike away from the ski area into a charming mountain landscape with several wonderful mountain lakes. Even the approach is entertaining and leaves you wanting more.
Then the Ferrata dei Laghi awaits, and we can enjoy it to the full. The via ferrata is moderately difficult and takes us over the Castel del Bombasel. The result is a lovely circular tour in which via ferrata, panorama and lake scenery fit together beautifully. For beginners and families in particular, this is a very well-rounded tour, because the day is varied without becoming unnecessarily complicated.

Is the Ferrata dei Laghi suitable for beginners?
Yes, the Ferrata dei Laghi is a very good tour for beginners and families with mountain experience. At B/C the route is moderate, but it is still a real via ferrata, so you should be sure-footed and feel comfortable on steep terrain.
How strenuous is the tour?
Using the cable car, the circuit is very manageable and fairly short. The total time is about 2.5 hours, with around 550 vertical metres of ascent and descent. That leaves plenty of time to enjoy the lake scenery and the route at a relaxed pace.
What equipment do I need?
Above all, you need sturdy mountain boots and a suitable via ferrata set. The detailed packing list comes with your confirmation email. Technical equipment can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
