The Große Cirspitze is a wonderful viewpoint summit high above the Grödner Joch. Thanks to its low difficulty and moderate length, it is also a great choice for less experienced mountaineers.
Even though the tour is not technically difficult, you are in fall-prone terrain most of the time, which requires full concentration. Inexperienced mountaineers are often glad of a rope from the mountain guide here. That turns the tour up the Große Cirspitze into a real pleasure. As an introductory tour in the Puez Group in particular, this via ferrata is a lovely way to get used to the terrain step by step, without the route becoming long or complicated.

PROGRAMME
Day 1: Up the Große Cirspitze
At the car park, we carry out a quick equipment check and hand out any rental equipment needed. From the Grödner Joch, we climb about 250 vertical metres on pleasant hiking trails along the southern slopes below the Cirspitzen to the start of the route.
Next comes a cable-protected section along a rock band. Above it, a well-trodden path leads steadily uphill. Every now and then there are short, very easy scrambling sections, mostly without cables, interspersed with further short cable-protected stretches. All in all, we reach the summit of the Große Cirspitze without any major technical difficulties and can enjoy the beautiful panorama of the Dolomites.
We descend along the ascent route. Of course, we won't skip a stop at the Jimmi Hütte, where we round off the day in comfort with a cool drink and a tasty bite to eat.

Is the via ferrata up the Große Cirspitze suitable for beginners?
Yes, the tour is well suited to sure-footed beginners. Graded A, the via ferrata is easy. Even so, you are often moving through steep terrain. That is exactly why many people really appreciate being accompanied by a South Tyrolean mountain guide.
What equipment do I need for the tour?
Above all, you need sturdy mountain boots and clothing suited to the weather. The detailed packing list comes with the confirmation email. A via ferrata set, harness and helmet can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
How long does the tour up the Große Cirspitze take?
You should allow about 4 hours in total for the tour (pure walking time 2.5 h). That includes breaks and, of course, the summit moment on the Große Cirspitze as well as a stop at the Jimmi Hütte.
