Kaiserjägersteig and Lagazuoi tunnel – an adventurous circuit on the Kleiner Lagazuoi in the Ampezzo Dolomites, particularly well suited to beginners, families and children.

Kaiserjägersteig and Lagazuoi tunnel (A): an easy, adventurous and very beautiful combination of two via ferratas in the Ampezzo Dolomites, especially well suited to via ferrata beginners, but also to families and children.
For younger via ferrata climbers in particular, there is the option of taking the cable car up to the Lagazuoi and descending through the adventurous tunnel from the First World War. Inside, there are countless peepholes, side passages and hidden chambers to discover and explore.
For everyone else, combining it with the Kaiserjägersteig on the ascent makes the ideal tour for a beautiful circuit on the Lagazuoi with enjoyable via ferrata sections. This mix of easy via ferrata, fascinating history and the special character of the area around the Falzarego Pass makes the tour very popular. You are not simply on a via ferrata – you are moving through a piece of alpine history.

PROGRAMME
The starting point for this tour is the car park on the Falzarego Pass. Here we briefly check the equipment – don't forget head torches for the tunnel – and hand out any rental gear borrowed from Südtirolalpin.
We then walk up to the start of the Kaiserjägersteig, which we reach after about 30 minutes. Here we put on our harnesses and helmets and clip in our via ferrata sets. Easy climbing sections, interrupted again and again by short stretches of walking, lead us up to the Lagazuoi.
At the top, you can stop at the hut for a drink or a small snack and enjoy the view from this eagle's nest. We then descend back to the Falzarego Pass through the tunnel that soldiers dug right through the mountain during the First World War, with many side passages, chambers and exciting viewpoints in the middle of the face.

Info: For children or younger participants, the option of taking the cable car up to the Lagazuoi is also available. Without the cable car, the ascent is approx. 700 vertical metres.

Is the Kaiserjägersteig suitable for beginners?
Yes, the tour is very well suited to via ferrata beginners. The Kaiserjägersteig is technically easy and offers a lovely via ferrata experience. The circuit is also suitable for families and motivated children.
Do I need a head torch for the Lagazuoi tunnel?
Yes, a head torch is essential for the Lagazuoi tunnel. Everything else is listed in the confirmation email. Any missing equipment can be borrowed from Südtirolalpin.
Can the tour also be done using the cable car?
Yes, especially with children or if you want to shorten the ascent, taking the cable car up to Lagazuoi is a good option. The focus is then mainly on the exciting descent through the historic tunnel.
