Via ferrata with children: After a short hike we tackle an easy via ferrata, on which children and parents alike get to know this exciting form of mountaineering.
For children in particular, "normal hikes" are often boring and uninteresting. But as soon as climbing comes into play, children are instantly hooked, and family weekend outings become real successes that the children enjoy to the full too.
The tour is run both for children-only groups and for families, where the parents learn how to secure their little ones properly on via ferratas. Parents and children are given a via ferrata set, and the children are additionally secured on the mountain guide's rope. Minimum age: 6 years.

PROGRAMME
Day tour: Onto the rock together
Depending on the tour chosen, we meet at an agreed meeting point at the start of our tour. We share out the climbing gear among the participants – a rucksack is required; for younger children, the mountain guide or the parents can carry the gear – and then set off.
After a short hike we reach the start of the via ferrata. There is a short briefing, and the children are additionally secured on the mountain guide's rope. The parents climb independently with a via ferrata set and can learn how to secure their little ones along the way. You will also get tips and information on doing via ferratas with children.
At the top of the via ferrata we enjoy a small snack and then start the descent. In most cases this is an easy hiking trail that takes us back to the starting point. With lots of great impressions from a beautiful and adventurous day, the children's interest in future via ferratas may well be sparked, and the parents also take a lot away from the day.
Any changes to the programme that may become necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, availability of accommodation, etc.) are always made in consultation with the participants.

Is the via ferrata suitable for children with no previous experience?
Yes, the tour is designed as an introduction. We choose an easy via ferrata with a short approach, and the children are additionally secured on the mountain guide's rope. This way, even children with no experience can get to know this form of mountaineering at their own pace.
What should we bring on the tour?
Above all, you need a rucksack and suitable mountain boots. The detailed packing list comes with the confirmation email. Technical equipment can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
Can parents learn how to accompany children on a via ferrata?
Yes, that is an important part of the tour. The parents use a via ferrata set and along the way receive practical tips on how best to accompany and secure their children on a via ferrata.
