On the Lampskopf a varied via ferrata awaits beneath the Pflerscher Tribulaun.

Pflersch – Lampskopf via ferrata (B/C): This enjoyable via ferrata is ideal both as a hut approach to the Tribulaunhütte and as a varied day trip through stunning scenery. It is especially perfect for mountaineers who enjoy not hanging on steel cables for hours on end. Alongside some very fine climbing sections, the route also features stretches of walking terrain that break things up.
At the top of the route you stand beneath the Pflerscher Tribulaun in a superb setting and suddenly feel as if you are in the middle of the Dolomites. A detour to the nearby Tribulaunhütte is definitely worthwhile, so you can refuel before the descent back to the valley. A wonderful day awaits you in the wild and romantic mountains of the Pflerschtal – a little away from the crowds.
The route was built in 2012 together with the hosts of the Tribulaunhütte. The hut itself has stood up there for much longer: it was built in 1892 by the Magdeburg section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club by the Sandessee. Beneath the Pflerscher Tribulaun you find yourself in a landscape strongly reminiscent of the Dolomites – and geologically, Hauptdolomit (Main Dolomite) really is the predominant rock here.

PROGRAMME
Day tour: Via ferrata and hut
From the car park it takes about 1 hour to reach the start of the Lampskopf via ferrata, where we put on our gear and climb, clipped to the steel cable, up the rock faces below the Tribulaun. Fine climbing sections alternate with walking terrain, and after just under 3 hours on the technical part of the ascent we reach the top of the route. At the nearby Tribulaunhütte we refuel with local specialities before starting the descent back to the car.

Is the Lampskopf via ferrata more of a day tour or a hut approach?
It works well as either. The Lampskopf via ferrata makes a varied day tour and is just as good as an approach to the Tribulaunhütte.
How difficult is the via ferrata and what should I bring?
The tour is graded B/C and is aimed at mountaineers with some via ferrata experience who also enjoy steeper terrain. The detailed packing list comes with the confirmation email. You can rent a via ferrata set and helmet from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
How long does the tour take and is there somewhere to stop for food along the way?
Allow around 6 hours in total for the circuit. After the technical section, the Tribulaunhütte is the perfect place to stop for food and drink before heading back down to the valley.
