Piz da Peres is a varied via ferrata across three sectors up a panoramic Dolomite summit on the edge of the Pragser Dolomiten.

The via ferrata up Piz da Peres opened in 2022 and immediately became very popular. No wonder: moderate difficulties on a beautiful panoramic mountain at the very northern edge of the Dolomites make for the ideal ingredients of a brilliant via ferrata day with a superb summit panorama.
Divided into 3 sectors, the route repeatedly crosses hiking trail no. 12, which is also the descent path, so it can be left at any time in case of exhaustion or an approaching thunderstorm. The route was designed by the local mountain guides Simon Kehrer and Max Willeit and officially opened on 21 July 2022.

PROGRAMME
From the Furkelpass, the approach path takes us to the start of the Piz da Peres via ferrata in about 1.5 h. Once we reach the first steel cables, we put on our gear and tackle the first part of the via ferrata. Here, difficulties go up to C at most, while the second section gets a little harder again (C/D) and the final section means enjoyable climbing all the way to the summit (A/B).
Depending on our climbing pace, we will reach the highest point after about 2 to 3 hours on the via ferrata. At the top, we enjoy the panorama from this outlying summit of the Dolomites: to the south, deep into the Pale Mountains, and to the north, into the Pustertal with the Zillertal Alps before us. After a good long summit break, it is time once more for concentration and sure-footedness on the descent path back to the Furkelpass.

Who is the Piz da Peres via ferrata suitable for?
The via ferrata up Piz da Peres is a day tour graded C/D and suits sure-footed mountain walkers with intermediate via ferrata experience. The first section is still a little easier, the second gets more athletic, and the final part eases off again comfortably to the summit.
How long does the tour take and how many vertical metres are involved?
You should allow around 5 hours in total for the tour. This adds up to about 800 metres of ascent and 800 metres of descent. The approach from the Furkelpass takes roughly 1.5 hours, and for the via ferrata itself you should plan on about 2 to 3 hours, depending on your pace.
What do I need to bring for the tour?
Above all, you need sturdy mountain boots and a via ferrata set with a helmet and harness. You will receive the detailed packing list with your confirmation email. Any missing equipment can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
