ABOUT THE TOUR
Sextner Rotwand Via Ferrata Traverse (C) with the Via Farrata Zandonella Sud via ferrata (C) on the ascent and the somewhat easier Rotwand Via Ferrata (B) on the descent: The traverse of the Sextner Rotwand is, and this should be made clear right away, one of the longest via ferrata tours in the Dolomites. Those who are up to the challenge will also be rewarded with one of the most beautiful tours in the Dolomites. The tour takes us to a wonderful panoramic summit and past numerous historic World War I sites, always with varied and breathtaking scenery, up to 2,965 meters.

PROGRAM
The starting point for this tour is the Kreuzberg Pass. Here, we will conduct a brief equipment check and distribute any necessary rental equipment.
For the ascent, we will choose the Ferrata Zandonella Sud, where we will reach the summit of the Rotwand via a varied and wonderful via ferrata with a difficulty rating of up to C. The approach to the via ferrata is already very long, taking a good 3-4 hours. It takes us from the Kreuzberg Pass to the Arzalpenscharte (there are already short, secured sections of A/B), then a short descent and horizontal climb into the Vallon Popera. Across this valley, the climb then continues steeply to the start of the via ferrata.
On the via ferrata itself, we still have a good 300 meters of elevation to climb until we reach the almost 3,000-meter-high summit of the Sexten Rotwand and can enjoy a breathtaking panorama deep into the Sexten Dolomites.
After a long rest at the summit, we choose the easier Rotwand via ferrata for our descent. Here, a wealth of scree alternates with short via ferrata sections and numerous wartime positions from the First World War.
At a small, inconspicuous notch at 2,400 meters, we branch off toward Burgstall and return via the hiking trail to below the Arzalpenkopf, where we follow the last, already familiar section of the trail back to the Kreuzberg Pass.
With tired legs but numerous fresh memories of a beautiful traverse and fantastic via ferrata sections, we can end the day contentedly.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
