ABOUT THE TOUR

Sulden - Tabaretta Via Ferrata (E): The backdrop for this extreme classic via ferrata in South Tyrol could hardly be more impressive. Directly beneath the north face of King Ortler (South Tyrol's highest peak), this very challenging via ferrata leads almost vertically through the 500-meter-high rock face that separates the Tabaretta Hut from the Payer Hut. Steep, secured only by a wire rope, without any additional footholds in the form of clamps or pins, it ascends in impressive fashion to over 3,000 meters above sea level. An absolute recommendation for experienced and strong via ferrata climbers: Did I mention that the atmosphere here is absolutely fantastic and impressive?

PROGRAM

From the Langenstein chairlift parking lot in Sulden, the chairlift takes us up a good 400 meters to the top station. From here, we follow the hiking trail to the Tabaretta Hut (top station - hut approx. 1.5 hours). The access path from the Tabaretta Hut traverses beneath the rock faces, partially exposed, until we reach the start of the via ferrata. Surefootedness is already required here. The subsequent 500-meter-high wall now lies ahead of us. We have many vertical passages and few ledges where you can stand and rest comfortably. A brilliant challenge for experienced via ferrata climbers. The panoramic and deep views of the surrounding mountains are simply breathtaking and are guaranteed to make this via ferrata an absolute highlight in every via ferrata enthusiast's logbook. From the exit, it's not far to the Payer Hut, impressively situated in the middle of the rocky ridge at an altitude of 3,029 meters. Here, we'll fortify ourselves for the upcoming descent.

*Tip: Combine with the ascent of the Ortler.
If you're not only a via ferrata fan but also a passionate mountaineer, let us know when you enquire, and we'll be happy to put together an offer for you that includes an ascent of the Ortler for day 2. This is possible with a maximum of two people per mountain guide.

Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
