Naturns Unterstell - Knott via ferrata (B/C): a small but very fine via ferrata park with several possible combinations up to difficulty E, close to the top station of the Unterstell cable car in the Vinschgau. Beginners and experienced via ferrata climbers alike will find great challenges and variants here for half a day.
Especially when the weather is not entirely settled, this is a very good option for letting off steam on the rock. If you also climb the punchy variants, you will certainly feel it by the end, because on the small overhangs you have to hold on tight every now and then. By the way, the name Knott comes from the South Tyrolean dialect and simply means rock — so it fits pretty well.

PROGRAMME
We take a leisurely ride up on the Unterstell cable car near Naturns, high above the Vinschgau valley basin, and at the top we let off steam in the small but very well-designed via ferrata park. Numerous combinations and variants invite you to try things out and climb until you drop. Several D and E variants and the many easier "branches" are perfect for edging towards your own limits on the via ferrata grading scale and finding out where your personal comfort zone lies.
The short approach and descent are ideal for filling the day with lots and lots of via ferrata metres. Even though no summit is involved, in the evening you will look back more than satisfied and tired on a day full of fun on the rock, and realise that it doesn't always have to be the big objectives and summits to push your own limits.

Is the Knott via ferrata suitable for beginners?
Yes. The Knott via ferrata has easier sections and several variants, so both beginners and more experienced climbers get their money's worth. If you like, you can gradually try the harder sections without the whole tour having to be difficult straight away.
How long does the tour take, and does it involve much ascent?
The guided tour is planned as a half-day tour and takes about 3 hours. Thanks to the Unterstell cable car, the approach and descent are short, adding up to around 100 metres of ascent and descent in total.
What equipment do I need for the via ferrata?
Above all, you need sturdy mountain boots and clothing suited to the weather. The detailed packing list comes with the confirmation email. Via ferrata set, harness and helmet can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
