Mezzolombardo - Val del Ri via ferrata (C): A modern and very varied via ferrata laid out through the Val del Ri gorge above Mezzolombardo, which together with the two other gorges, Burrone and Rio Secco, around Mezzocorona in the Adige Valley makes up a beautiful gorge trilogy.
The via ferrata in Val del Ri has several rope bridges where the roaring stream far below is crossed again and again in spectacular fashion. Afterwards, you climb up along the sides of the canyon and beside impressive waterfalls. A truly rewarding via ferrata that will certainly develop quickly into a modern classic.

PROGRAM
Day tour: Through Val del Ri
We meet a little above Mezzolombardo and ascend together over the suspension bridge to the start of the Val del Ri via ferrata. The time that follows in the gorge gives us wonderful impressions of a truly beautiful canyon. Despite the many iron rungs, one or two sections still require some arm strength. Since children often cannot reach the cable from the iron pegs and the rock otherwise has rather few footholds, this via ferrata is not so suitable for children under 10. But for everyone else, this will be a brilliant day south of South Tyrol in a landscape you would not expect in the Adige Valley.

Who is the Val del Ri via ferrata suitable for?
Val del Ri is suitable for sure-footed mountain enthusiasts with some via ferrata experience who are looking for a varied gorge tour. For children under 10, the route is less suitable because the cable is difficult to reach in some places and the rock can have rather few footholds.
How strenuous is the tour?
With 400 metres of ascent and around 2.5 hours, the tour is very manageable, but it certainly demands arm strength in a few places. The steeper passages in particular and the movement through the narrow canyon are what make this route so appealing.
What do I need for the tour?
You mainly need suitable mountain boots and clothing appropriate to the weather. The exact packing list comes with the confirmation email. Via ferrata set, harness and helmet can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
