There are several ways to reach the highest point of the Sella. One of the most beautiful and quieter options is the route via the Vallon via ferrata from the north-east side.
A varied circular tour with a via ferrata that is not too long but really beautiful and punchy, adding even more to this already impressive mountain tour. The alternative descent makes for an entertaining loop in a fantastic setting in the heart of the Sella massif in the Dolomites.

PROGRAMME
Day 1: Vallon and Piz Boè
We meet right at the valley station of the Boé cable car in Corvara in Val Badia and, after a short gear check, ride the cable car up to “Crep de Munt” and the Vallon chairlift a little further. From the top station we walk to the start of the Vallon via ferrata, put on our via ferrata gear and start climbing. At first we climb easier sections until we cross the bridge below a waterfall. From there the via ferrata gets a bit tougher, and the steep exit wall leads up to the top of the route. We then follow the hiking trail on to Piz Boè, the highest point of the Sella massif. For the descent we take the Lichtenfelser Weg back to the Franz-Kostner-Hütte and from there continue to the cable car, which takes us back down to Corvara.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
How difficult is the Vallon via ferrata up Piz Boè?
The tour is graded difficulty C. The lower part still follows easier sections, but from the bridge below the waterfall it gets noticeably tougher. For the via ferrata you should be sure-footed and feel at home in rocky terrain.
How does the tour work with lift support?
We meet at the valley station of the Boé cable car in Corvara. Using the gondola and the Vallon chairlift, we gain most of the height, then climb the Vallon via ferrata to Piz Boè and return via the Lichtenfelser Weg and the Franz-Kostner-Hütte. With the lifts, the tour is planned as a day tour with a total time of around 5 hours.
What do I need to bring for the tour?
Above all, you need sturdy mountain boots and suitable clothing for a long day in the high mountains. The detailed packing list comes with the confirmation email. Via ferrata equipment can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
