PROGRAM
The starting point is the parking lot of the glacier ski area in Kurzras, where we will meet. (Alternatively, we can also arrange a different meeting point when booking and travel to Schnals together.)
After a quick gear check, we begin our ascent to the Schöne Aussicht Hut at 2,842 meters. We will spend the night here.
The second day is all about the Hinteres Eis: We first cross the Hinteres Eis to the Hintereisferner glacier and then continue across this glacier to the Hintereisjoch.
Then, a short, steeper section ascends to the summit ridge.
A short, not too difficult, but exposed ridge section takes us to the fourth-highest peak in South Tyrol.
We have several options for the descent. We will choose the most suitable one depending on the snow conditions.
The ascent in one day:
We reach the glacier via the Steinschlagjoch, where we continue to the Hintereisjoch and the summit ridge, and then to the summit.
Alternative:
There is another option: climbing the Weißkugel from the Langtauferertal or the Matschertal valleys. Depending on snow conditions and other factors, we can also choose one of these two ascents.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
