Bishorn - normal route: The Bishorn lies in the mountain and glacier world of the Valais Alps. Prominent peaks such as the Matterhorn, the Monte Rosa massif, the Dom, the Zinalrothorn, the Dent Blanche and, not least, the Weisshorn are its immediate neighbours. From the summit we will even enjoy a very special view of the latter.
Surrounded by these demanding and difficult alpine tours, the Bishorn is a very rewarding summit objective. It allows less experienced alpinists, too, to venture into the world of the four-thousanders and experience that special feeling of being part of this mighty mountain world, looking across at its ridges and faces at eye level. The normal route via the Cabane de Tracuit is technically easy, but requires stamina and a good rhythm over two days.

PROGRAMME
Day 1: Approach to the hut
We meet in Zinal at the large car park at the head of the valley. After a quick gear check, we begin the long but very beautiful approach to the Cabane de Tracuit. The trail climbs relentlessly, which is already a good foretaste of the tour. In the afternoon, we spend time at the hut and recharge our batteries for the summit climb. There is plenty of time to go over any basic questions you have about rope and belaying techniques on glaciers.

Day 2: Summit and descent
The next morning, the Bishorn is on the programme. We start the ascent before first light. On the way we enjoy a beautiful sunrise, and of course there is time for a few photos too. At a steady pace, we keep gaining height until we reach the summit of the Bishorn. The view across to the Weisshorn with its striking north ridge is particularly impressive, but all around you can also marvel at the great peaks of the Valais. Once we have fully savoured the summit, we start our descent back to the hut and on down into the valley to Zinal.

Who is the Bishorn tour suitable for?
The tour is suitable for mountaineers with good stamina who want to take on their first four-thousander. Technically, the Bishorn is fairly easy, but you should still be sure-footed and prepared for a long approach and for moving at high altitude.
What equipment do I need?
You will receive the detailed packing list with your confirmation email. Above all, you need suitable mountaineering boots and warm clothing for the early summit start. Technical equipment can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
How demanding is the normal route up the Bishorn?
The normal route is technically easy but requires good stamina. In particular, the long approach to the Cabane de Tracuit and the summit day followed by the descent to Zinal make the tour physically demanding.
