ABOUT THE TOUR

Bishorn - Normal Route: The Bishorn is nestled amidst the breathtaking mountain and glacier world of the Valais Alps. Prominent peaks such as the Matterhorn, the Monte Rosa massif, the Dom, the Zinalrothorn, the Dent Blanche, and, last but not least, the Weisshorn are in the immediate vicinity. From the summit of the latter, we'll even enjoy a very special view. Surrounded by these demanding and difficult alpine tours, the Bishorn represents a highly rewarding summit goal. It allows even less experienced alpinists to venture into the world of the 4,000-meter peaks and experience the unique feeling of being part of this mighty mountain world, gazing at eye level at its impressive ridges and flanks.

PROGRAM

Day 1: Hut Approach - Cabane du Tracuit
We meet in Zinal at the large parking lot at the end of the valley. After a quick gear check, we begin the long (1,600 meters elevation gain) but very scenic approach to the Cabane du Tracuit. We will spend the afternoon at the hut to recharge our batteries for the summit climb. We will gladly allow enough time to answer any basic questions you may have about rope and safety techniques on glaciers.

Day 2: Bishorn
The next morning, the summit is on the agenda. We will begin the ascent before first light. Along the way, we will experience a stunning sunrise and have time for many beautiful photos. After about 1,000 meters of elevation gain, which we will cover at a leisurely pace at this high altitude, we reach the summit of the Bishorn at 4,153 meters. A magnificent view of the wild flanks of the impressive Weisshorn opens up before us. The sleek north ridge leads to this unique and beautifully shaped peak. But even otherwise, there's a stunning panorama all around, with all the Valais's famous mountains to marvel at. Once we've fully savored the summit, our descent begins back to the hut and continues down into the valley to Zinal.

Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
