Freeriding Sella
Freeriding in the Dolomites
The Sella massif is a true mecca for freeriders. It is the centrepiece of the Sellaronda, a ski safari that circles the entire massif on pistes. This also makes it an ideal base for us freeriders. Around 30 different couloirs and gullies suitable for freeriding cut through the whole massif. There are impressive descents at every level of difficulty and on every aspect, and no matter which side we come out on, the next piste is never far away.

The Queen of the Dolomites is not only the highest peak in the Dolomites but also a brilliant mountain for freeriding, with wide slopes and plenty of room for all kinds of descent variants. The Marmolada regularly receives an above-average amount of fresh snow – the best conditions for some truly brilliant days every winter, drawing your own lines in the powder on the vast glacier slopes at ideal angles. A real highlight is the Marmolada Canyon, which we will of course not miss if conditions are right.

Freeride in the Dolomites
Around Cortina d´Ampezzo, host of the 2026 Winter Olympics, there is a wide choice of great freeride opportunities. Whether on the Tofana or in the Cristallo massif, the setting and conditions are truly impressive, and in a breathtaking landscape we are lucky enough to find superb descents through spectacular couloirs or across long Dolomite cirques. Tours here come in various levels of difficulty, and our mountain guides will find the right descent for our participants´ skiing ability.

Freeriding in South Tyrol
At the foot of the triad of Königsspitze, Zebru and Ortler, the Ortler Skiarena offers a ski area with exciting freeride opportunities. With short climbs we reach cool gullies and off-piste variants of varying difficulty, so nothing stands in the way of an unforgettable day out in the snow! This freeride area is still an insider tip, and the big rush seen in most well-known powder areas has so far largely failed to materialise. You also won't find much information on the various descent options.

The Japanese Alps, and especially Hokkaido, the northernmost island, hold all the world's snow records. Annual snowfall of 20 metres and more, combined with cold temperatures, creates ideal conditions for freeriding in the finest powder snow. But Japan is also well worth the trip for its food and culture.

Freeride course
Avalanche course with a focus on freeriding
Together with our partner, the Ortovox Safety Academy, we offer a two-day freeride course in the Dolomites. The focus here is on the descent, and we'll teach you a few tricks for mastering even technically demanding descents – where a rope, crampons and an ice axe may be needed – confidently and safely. And of course, avalanche awareness and companion rescue get plenty of attention on this course too.
