The Pragser Dolomites are among the northernmost foothills of the Dolomites and, at the same time, are one of the most scenic areas of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Naturally, the first thing that comes to mind when many people hear the name Pragser Dolomites is Lake Pragser Wildsee, the "Pearl of the Dolomite Lakes." Unfortunately, this incomparable beauty has now become the lake's downfall. Hardly any other motif has been seen as frequently on social media in recent years as images of the lake and its wooden boats. But just as magnetically as Lake Pragser Wildsee attracts the masses of tourists, it also has a cleansing effect on the rest of this stunningly beautiful mountain world. 

Wonderful hiking mountains, deep in snow and offering beautiful ski slopes in winter, contrast beautifully with the wild rocky bastions like the Hohe Gaisl – one of my absolute favorite mountains in the Dolomites. Whether you're climbing the rocky outcrops of the unknown Punta del Pin or the Gumpalspitzen , scrambling through lonely walls and exciting ridges to the Hohe Gaisl , tackling the numerous ice formations with ice tools in winter, or exploring an incredibly diverse touring area with numerous gullies, notches, and peaks on touring skis, which might not be immediately apparent to a ski tourer – you'll definitely never get bored here. 

The potential of the Pragser Dolomites is enormous, and a mountain guide can help you delve much deeper into an area that is so much more than Lake Pragser Wildsee - whose unique beauty is absolutely undeniable and where a detour in the evening after a wonderful tour is definitely worth it, once the large tourist rush has waned.
