The Prags Dolomites are among the northernmost outliers of the Dolomites and at the same time one of the most scenic areas of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Of course, the first thing many people think of when they hear the name Prags is the "Pearl of the Dolomite Lakes", Lake Prags (Pragser Wildsee). Sadly, this incomparable beauty has since become the lake's undoing. Hardly any motif has been seen as often on social media in recent years as pictures of the lake and its wooden boats. But just as magnetically as Lake Prags draws the tourist crowds, it has a cleansing effect on the rest of this stunningly beautiful mountain world. 

Wonderful hiking peaks, deep in snow in winter and tempting with beautiful ski slopes, contrast nicely with wild rock bastions such as the Hohe Gaisl – one of my absolute favourite mountains in the Dolomites. Whether you're climbing on the rock-solid stone of the little-known Punta del Pin or the Gumpalspitzen, climbing through remote faces and exciting ridges onto the Hohe Gaisl, picking your way up the countless ice formations with ice tools in winter, or exploring on touring skis an incredibly varied touring area with numerous couloirs, cols and summits that doesn't reveal itself to a ski tourer at first glance – you certainly won't get bored here. 

The potential of the Prags Dolomites is enormous, and a mountain guide can help you immerse yourself much more deeply in an area that is so much more than Lake Prags – whose unique beauty is absolutely undeniable and where a detour in the evening after a wonderful tour is definitely worthwhile, once the big tourist rush has left again.
