Puez-Geisler

THE REGION
The Puez-Geisler Mountains are located in the nature park of the same name and comprise two separate mountain ranges. The Geilsler Group , high above the Villnöß Valley , the birthplace of Reinhard Messner, and the Puez Group , which borders the Gadertal Valley to the west. The entire area includes many worthwhile summits, which can be reached via fantastic via ferratas, beautiful hikes , touring skis in winter, or alpine climbing in summer. The best thing about this area, however, is the fact that it focuses on sustainable tourism. Apart from the south side of the Odle peaks on the Val Gardena side, there are no lifts, so you have to hike and climb to reach the peaks yourself.
Via ferrata enthusiasts will find several worthwhile options in the area, such as the traverse of Sas Rigais , the highest peak in the region. In the Aferer Geisler , there is also a beautiful traverse of the ridge via the Günther Messner via ferrata .
In the Puez Group, you'll discover a true ski touring paradise in winter, with enjoyable ski mountains and perfect skiing terrain in a breathtaking setting. But especially those who prefer something a little steeper will find several spectacular couloirs in this area, such as the Valscura on the Sassongher , the North Gully on the Puezspitze , the highest peak in the Puez Group, or the North Gully on the Capuchin (Piz Somplunt), as well as many other hidden gems.
Climbers also get their money's worth here. Especially on the south side of the Geisler peaks, you can climb adventurous Dolomite routes with classic protection in a T-shirt in the sun long into the autumn.
So, as you can see, there's a lot to experience here. Listing everything would go beyond the scope of this description, and no one would bother reading it. So, the best thing to do is contact a mountain guide and tell them about yourself, and they'll definitely find the right tour or route in the region for you.
