Home of the Sextner Sonnenuhr, the Drei Zinnen and the Paternkofel, the Dreischusterspitze and many other dream peaks that would attract far more attention in other areas. But here in this unique part of the Dolomites, the density of outstanding peaks is so high that you hardly know where to begin. Taken as a whole, the Sexten Dolomites are for me the most beautiful mountain region on earth – a personal view that not everyone has to share, but anyone who takes the time to immerse themselves more deeply in this region will often catch themselves agreeing with me, at least to a certain extent.

Steeped in history, the region is constantly marked by traces of the First World War. Relics and remnants of this inglorious era can be found everywhere. Today we can follow old wartime paths along iron-protected via ferratas that lead through the wildest rock formations and up to the summits almost as numerously as the hiking trails in the valleys and at the foot of these mighty peaks.

In winter, on touring skis, the Sexten Dolomites offer an experience that will stand out from "normal ski tours" for a lifetime. At first glance completely unsuitable as ski mountains, the area is packed with unique opportunities. Those who prefer to seek adventure in the warm summer months will follow in the footsteps of the first ascensionists on the wild normal routes and, thanks to the solitude of these routes, feel transported back to another time.
