The Valpelline in the Aosta Valley offers a world-class mountain backdrop. It lies directly south of the Valais four-thousanders such as the Grand Combin, Dent d'Hérens and the Matterhorn. The mountains are correspondingly wild and impressive. Even so, the Valpelline offers wonderful touring options that are suitable for beginners and, depending on the tour chosen, extend to demanding, long undertakings.
