The Val Maira in Piedmont is a true gem for ski tourers. Ideal ski terrain with gentle slopes, backed by steep rock spires standing guard, characterises this unique valley far from lifts and mass tourism.
Besides countless touring options, another highlight awaits us: the excellent Occitan cooking of Manuela and Renato, who will give us a warm welcome at their guesthouse, the Locanda Mistral.
Every evening, a 5-course menu made from top-quality local produce and a well-stocked wine cellar await us. A ski touring week that we will surely remember for a long time, both for the skiing and for the food.

'- Ascents of 800 - 1,400 vertical metres (3-4 hours)
- Skiing on piste (parallel turns) should be no problem, so that you can also get by reasonably well in deep snow

PROGRAMME
Day 1: Travel to Piedmont
We travel from South Tyrol and Switzerland to the Valle Maira and meet at our accommodation, the Locanda Mistral, where our mountain guides welcome us. We spend the rest of the evening getting to know each other and being treated to our first culinary delights by Renato and his family.
Days 2-6: Ski tours in the Valle Maira
The following days are all about ski touring in the Valle Maira. From easy, short tours for beginners to long, demanding outings, the valley offers us countless options. The choice of tours is tailored individually to the group.
After our tours there is plenty of time to relax at our accommodation before a 5-course menu of regional delicacies awaits us every evening.
Walking time: 4–6 h | ↑ 800–1,400 m | ↓ 800–1,400 m (guide value per day)
Day 7: Departure
After a week of what will hopefully be countless wonderful and lasting impressions, it is time to say goodbye to this valley. But who knows – some of us may well have fallen for the Valle Maira and will soon be back again.

Who is this ski touring trip in the Valle Maira suitable for?
The week is deliberately kept flexible: from easier, shorter tours to longer and more demanding outings, a lot is possible. What matters is solid ski technique, the fitness for several days in the backcountry and a love of guided ski tours. The daily choice of tour is adapted to the group.
How are the tours chosen during the week?
The tours are chosen on site together with the mountain guides to suit the weather, snow conditions and the group. That is one of the great advantages of this trip to the Valle Maira: every day we can decide flexibly which tour fits best.
What equipment do I need for the trip?
The detailed packing list comes with the confirmation email. Above all, you will need your ski touring equipment and avalanche safety gear. Any missing equipment can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
