Sella

THE REGION
The Sella Group is a special feature of the Dolomites . Its characteristic features are the vertical walls that surround the entire mountain range and end on a lunar plateau. The massif is surrounded by four passes: Sella Pass , Gardena Pass , Pordoi Pass and the Campolongo Pass . In winter, skiers are immediately familiar with the Sella Ronda , and cyclists also rave about the idea of circumnavigating the Sella massif on their bikes. Unfortunately, motorcyclists also take advantage of the well-developed pass roads and the magnificent panorama for their joyrides, making a lot of noise, but who can blame them in this unique landscape? Ultimately, we climbers also benefit from the fact that with little access we are right on some of the most beautiful multi-pitch routes in the entire Dolomites. The rock quality is almost consistently excellent, and the south faces of the Ciavaces can also be climbed in winter. If it gets too hot for the south faces in summer, there are plenty of tours in the cooler shade on the Sella Towers , the Meisules or the Murfereid Group .
If climbing shoes are too tight and the holds too small for alpine climbing, grab a via ferrata set and wire ropes and explore some of the most famous and beautiful via ferratas in breathtaking surroundings. On the aforementioned high plateau, idyllically situated and excellent huts await hungry and thirsty mountaineers. Here, you'll also find those hiking the Dolomites High Route No. 2 from Brixen to Feltre, who also hike over the Sella massif on their route and even get to spend a night at the Bamberger Hut (Rifugio Boe) at an altitude of 2,871 meters – breathtaking sunset and sunrise included.
Things get even better in winter, when the pass roads (which are open during the winter months, by the way) are much quieter, and the massif's numerous gullies and couloirs are filled with snow, awaiting freeriders . Where it's often too wet in summer to climb the rock faces, numerous waterfalls form and attract ice climbers . They are marveled at by skiers on the Sellaronda, circumnavigating this unique massif, constantly gaining new views from all sides of this rocky bastion and often not even knowing which of the numerous excellent huts is best for dining.
A mountain guide is the best person to show you how to reach this lunar landscape, either by taking the most beautiful trails or climbing. If you want to experience the Sella massif in winter in a relaxed manner on the Sellaronda or freeride into the wild landscape, then a mountain guide is the right choice for you. also receive excellent advice.
