Abruzzo – ski touring trip: perfect corn snow, pleasant temperatures, plus Italian hospitality and culinary delights in Abruzzo. A ski touring week for connoisseurs, with fantastic ski tours and unique summits in the Majella group and around Gran Sasso, home to Europe's southernmost glacier.
Ski tours of every difficulty and on slopes of all steepnesses await us. High up in the mountains of Abruzzo it is still the depths of winter, while down in the valleys spring arrived long ago. That is exactly what makes this trip so special: corn snow under your skis in the morning, good food in the evening, and that relaxed Italian atmosphere that makes you never want to leave.
We tour in two magnificent areas that offer astonishing variety in good corn snow conditions – from enjoyable slopes to striking summits. This keeps the week varied without losing its character: lots of ski touring, lots of scenery and a lovely mix of exercise, indulgence and southern mountain winter.

PROGRAMME
Days 1–4: Travel and ski tours in the Majella group
We meet at the car park at the motorway exit in Klausen or at an individually agreed meeting point and drive together to Abruzzo. First, we let off steam in the Majella group, with its wonderful corn snow slopes and impressive couloirs. Possible summits include Monte Amaro, Pesco di Falcone, Monte Rapina and many other rewarding objectives. Which tour we tackle on which day depends on the weather, snow conditions and the group – this keeps the week flexible and lets us make the most of the conditions.

Days 5–7: Ski tours in the Gran Sasso massif
After the last ski tour in the Majella group, we move on to the Gran Sasso massif. Here, too, we have plenty of options, which we choose according to the weather, snow conditions and technical demands. The highlight, with a bit of luck with the weather, is Corno Grande – the highest summit of the Apennines; on its flanks lies the Ghiacciaio del Calderone, Italy's southernmost glacier. Other possible summits are Cima Camicia or Monte Prena.
