Freeriding around the Sella means: big lines, wild couloirs, and a day right in the heart of the Dolomites.

Freeride Sella - Dolomites: The Sella Massif is a true mecca for freeriders. It is the centre of the Sellaronda, a ski safari where the entire rock massif is circled on ski pistes. That is exactly what makes it an ideal starting point for us freeriders as well.
Almost 30 different couloirs and gullies suitable for freeriding run through the entire massif. There are impressive descents in every difficulty level and aspect, and no matter which side we come out on, the next ski piste is never far away.
The most famous of all freeride descents in the Sella Massif is Val de Mesdì. It is an ideal start for getting to know the area, as this descent takes you all the way through the Sella Massif from south to north and gives you a good sense of what it means to freeride in the Dolomites. Our mountain guides know several great options for adding more highlights to the day and for choosing the right descents to match the participants’ skiing ability. Look forward to a day out in the hopefully freshly snow-covered Dolomites.

What you need
Requirements:
- Safe skiing off-piste and on steep terrain
- Safely negotiate steep descents of 35°-40° (short sections are possible, and those that are steeper can be secured)
- Basics of skiing technique (parallel turns on the slopes)
- Touring skis and skins are required for most descents

Day tour: Freeriding in the Sella Massif
At the meeting point, there will be a short equipment check before we head towards Pordoi using the cable cars. Warming up on the ski pistes helps us mountain guides assess your ski technique so that we can then choose the right freeride descents and, if necessary, adapt them to the group’s level.
The options in the Sella Massif are extremely varied. There are around 30 different gullies and couloirs in all kinds of difficulties and aspects that we can use for our descents. A true mecca for freeriders. For most descents, climbing skins are necessary. A few are also possible without them, but then our choice is much more limited.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.

Who is freeriding on the Sella suitable for?
This offer is aimed at good, confident skiers who want to venture off-piste. Which gullies and descents we ski will be adapted by the mountain guides to the participants’ ability and to the conditions in the Sella Massif.
Do I need climbing skins?
For many descents in the Sella Massif, climbing skins are useful or necessary. There are also some options without skins, but then the choice is much smaller. You will receive the exact packing list with the confirmation email, and equipment can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
Will we definitely ski Val de Mesdì?
Val de Mesdì is the best-known descent on the Sella, but whether we ski this exact line depends on the conditions and the level of the group.
