ABOUT THE TOUR
Freeriding in Sulden means: strong descents at the foot of Königsspitze, Zebrù and Ortler, with the north faces in view and plenty of room for your own lines.

At the foot of the trio of Königsspitze, Zebrù and Ortler, the Ortler Skiarena offers a ski area with exciting freeride possibilities. Most of the descents lie directly opposite South Tyrol’s highest summit, and the view of the spectacular north faces creates a powerful alpine setting.
With shorter climbs, we reach cool couloirs and variant descents of various difficulty levels, setting the stage for a really good day out in the snow. This freeride area is still considered something of an insider tip, and the big rush seen in many well-known powder destinations has largely not arrived here so far. You also won’t find much information on the wide range of descent options.

Requirements:
- Safe skiing off-piste and on steep terrain
- Safely negotiate steep slopes of 35°-40° (short sections are possible, but steeper sections can be secured)
- Basics of skiing technique (parallel turns on the slopes)

PROGRAM
Day 1: Freeriding in Sulden
We meet in Sulden at the foot of the Ortler and, after a short equipment check, head up into the mountains using the cable cars. Some of the descent options can be reached with relatively little extra effort – ideal for warming into the day and choosing the objectives for the next runs according to the participants’ ability level.
Over the course of the day, we lay down a few fine turns in the powder, make good use of the lifts of the Ortler Skiarena, and enjoy the immense panorama of the Ortler Group. Depending on conditions and the group, we choose suitable couloirs, slopes and variants so that the day comes together well rather than following a fixed formula. So look forward to a really good freeride day in Sulden with the mountain guides from Südtirolalpin.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.

Who is freeriding in Sulden suitable for?
This day is designed for good skiers who feel comfortable in open alpine terrain and are keen to go freeriding in Sulden. Which descents we choose depends on the conditions and the level of the group.
How does the day work on site?
We meet in Sulden am Ortler, do a short equipment check, and then use the lifts of the Ortler Skiarena. After that, we choose suitable descents and shorter climbs so that it all comes together into a well-rounded freeride day.
What equipment do I need to bring?
You will receive the detailed packing list in the confirmation email. Most important are your ski or freeride equipment and suitable clothing. Missing equipment can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
