On the Torre Wundt, the Mazzorana offers an impressive Dolomites climb in the quieter corner of the Cadini group.

The Cadini group is a true El Dorado for alpine climbers. The nearby Tre Cime work in this range's favour, ensuring that relatively few climbers are about up here, high above Misurina – even though there are wonderful climbing routes such as the Mazzorana on the Torre Wundt.
That is exactly what makes this tour so appealing: you are climbing in the Dolomites, but often in far quieter surroundings than in the best-known spots. The route itself is a classic chimney climb with exactly the quirky character that you either find exciting or, by the end of the tour, come to love for good. If you enjoy alpine terrain, grippy rock and a line with personality, this is the place for you.

PROGRAMME
Day 1: Mazzorana on the Torre Wundt
We meet in Landro – we will agree on the exact time and place beforehand – and drive together towards Misurina and on to the car park at the start of the approach path to Rifugio Fonda Savio. At the car park we do a quick gear check and then set off towards the start of the route.
The approach into the Cadini takes about an hour and is truly beautiful. Not just the panorama, but also the fact that this area is far quieter than the nearby Tre Cime, makes the approach fly by.
The choice of climbing routes in the Cadini is huge, ranging from short, enjoyable climbs to great classics and longer routes. The Mazzorana suggested here may not lead to the highest tower, but it definitely leads to one of the most striking around Rifugio Fonda Savio.
The chimney climbing, which in this form is probably found in only a few places in the Dolomites, is among the finest of its kind. Steep and consistently grade IV, the route reaches the summit in 7 pitches. All the way you are hanging on superb holds, wondering how something so spectacular can be climbed at such moderate difficulty. This is guaranteed to be a climbing day you won't forget in a hurry.

Who is the Mazzorana on the Torre Wundt suitable for?
The tour is ideal for climbers with solid climbing experience who are looking for a classic alpine route at grade IV. If you feel comfortable on steeper rock and fancy some special chimney climbing, this tour is a great fit.
What should I bring for the tour?
Above all, you need suitable mountain boots and clothing for a long day in the mountains. You will receive the detailed packing list with your confirmation email. Technical equipment can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
How long is the approach and what does the day look like?
From the car park on the approach to Rifugio Fonda Savio, it takes about an hour to reach the start of the route. We then climb the Mazzorana on the Torre Wundt and afterwards descend back to the starting point. All in all, you should allow around 5.5 hours for the day.
