Dolomites High Route No. 1: The Classic: The Dolomites High Route No. 1 is one of the most beautiful and technically easier Dolomites high routes. In five days, we will tackle the most impressive section of the entire route, which would take 15 days to reach Belluno.

Due to the great popularity of the Dolomites high-altitude trails, it is necessary to inquire at least six months before the planned start of the tour, otherwise the huts along the route will be fully booked.

PROGRAM

Day 1: Lake Braies – Seekofel Hut
We meet at the Hotel Pragser Wildsee, where we'll have a brief welcome and then hike directly to the Seekofel Hut via the No. 1 trail.
4 hours – ↑ 900 meters elevation gain – 6 km

Day 2: Seekofel Hut – Lavarella Hut
On the second day, we descend to Lake Fosses and continue into the Val Salata to the Sennes Hut (2,116 meters). From the hut, we descend to Pederü and continue on foot (or by hut taxi) to the Lavarella Hut.
6 hours – ↑ 850 meters elevation gain – ↓ 1,050 meters elevation gain

Day 3: Lavarella Hut – Rifugio Lagazuoi
The third stage takes us to Lake Limo and then to the Fane Alm. Via the Ju dal'Ega and the Forcella del Lago, we reach the Lagazuoi Hut.
5 hours – ↑ 1,100 meters of elevation gain – ↓ 350 meters of elevation loss

Day 4: Rifugio Lagazuoi – Rifugio Croda da Lago
We descend via the Galleria di Guerra, World War I fortifications, to the Falzarego Pass and then continue to the Rifugio Bai de Dónes. We take the chairlift to the Rifugio Scoiattoli. Passing the Cinque Torri, we reach the beautifully situated Rifugio Croda da Lago.
5 hours – ↑ 100 meters of elevation gain – ↓ 670 meters of elevation loss

Day 5: Rifugio Croda da Lago – San Vito di Cadore
On the last day, we follow the original high-altitude trail for a while over the Ambrizzola Pass to the Col Duro Pass and then continue through the Col Roan Pass. Here we leave the Dolomites High Altitude Trail and descend to San Vito di Cadore. A taxi takes us back to the starting point at Lake Braies.
4 hours – ↑ 220 meters of elevation gain – ↓ 840 meters of elevation gain + 2-hour taxi ride

 

 

Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
