ABOUT THE TOUR
Eiger - Mittelegigrat: The Mittelegigrat on the Eiger is one of the most beautiful and impressive rock ridges in the entire Alpine region. Jagged rock climbing with breathtaking views down into the valleys and to the summit of one of Switzerland's most famous mountains, even though at just under 4,000 meters it is far from being one of the highest peaks in the Alps. On one side, the Eiger North Face plunges dizzyingly down to Grindelwald and into the green plains of the Alpine foothills, while on the other side you gaze upon the gigantic glaciers of the Bernese Oberland, including the largest glacier in the Alps. Those who possess the necessary acclimatization, a head for heights, and the technical skills for climbing at the upper end of grade III difficulty will have a truly exceptional mountain experience on this tour. It is definitely one of the dream climbs in the summit logbook of every ambitious mountaineer.

PROGRAM
Day 1: Meeting point Grindelwald - Jungfraujoch Railway Terminal
We meet in the early morning in Grindelwald at the Jungfrau Railway terminal and take the train to the Eismeer station. From there, we hike for approximately 3 hours to the Mittelegi Hut. Due to glacial retreat, the trail includes some initial climbing sections to get us used to the terrain.
Day 2: Eiger via the Mittelegi Ridge
The next morning, we set off early from the hut. By headlamp, we begin our ascent towards the summit. We climb along the fantastic rocky ridge, enjoying the changing light of the rising sun and the first warming rays of sunshine on the East Ridge. After several hours of focused and exposed climbing, we reach the summit, where we are rewarded with a breathtaking view. But the tour is far from over. The descent also demands our full attention and includes some technically challenging sections before we reach the Mönchshütte via the Eigerjoch and soon after, the mountain station at the Jungfraujoch. We should expect the entire descent to take approximately 10 hours (depending on conditions and our progress). Afterwards, we'll take the cogwheel train back down to Grindelwald.
Tip:
Those wishing to climb the entire Mittelegigrat ridge, the so-called "Mittelegi Integral," will need to be in better physical condition and possess significantly higher climbing skills. The tour takes a total of 3 days, including two long days of climbing on the ridge and several sections of grade V difficulty, which you'll need to climb in your mountaineering boots. If you feel up to this challenge, we'd be happy to send you a corresponding offer. Please simply mention this in your inquiry.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
