ABOUT THE TOUR
The Großvenediger is the highest peak in the Venediger Group in the Hohe Tauern. From all sides, the 3,666-meter-high peak presents itself with mighty glaciers and inevitably draws attention when climbing neighboring peaks. The relatively low difficulty makes it a very popular destination for those seeking their first experience in the high mountains and on glaciers. What should not be underestimated, especially on the Großvenediger, are the glacier crevasses, some of which are very large and impressive. The "World-Old Majesty," as the Großvenediger has always been called, lives up to its proud name. An impressive peak that captivates numerous mountaineers with its relatively moderate difficulty.

PROGRAM
Day 1: Defreggerhaus Hut Ascent
We'll meet at the Wiesenkreuz/Hinterbichl car park in the Virgental Valley and, after a quick gear check, we'll take a comfortable Venediger taxi to the Johannes Hut. From the Johannes Hut, it's another 2.5 hours of ascent to the Defreggerhaus, our base for the Großvenediger ascent the next day.
Day 2: Großvenediger Summit
The next morning, after breakfast, we'll set off early toward the summit. Shortly after the hut, we'll reach the Inner Mullwitzkees glacier, which flows south from the Großvenediger summit. On the glacier, we'll ascend toward the summit in a roped team, equipped with ice axes and crampons. We'll reach the Rainertörl and from here, we have about an hour to go to the summit. Shortly before the highest point of the Großvenediger, a short snow ridge awaits us, which, depending on the snow conditions, can sometimes be quite exposed. From here, we can enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the surrounding peaks and far into the Dolomites to the south. What we won't see, however, even in the best weather, is Venice—a rumor that persists.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
