Climbing, playing, marvelling – at the Zans climbing garden, a family day quickly turns into a small adventure for young and old alike.
Climbing and adventure for children and families: what could be better for kids than enjoying an easy climb on the rock and feeling proud of their own achievement? We spend a thoroughly rewarding day for the whole family at the Zans climbing garden in Villnöß.
Whether it is the children’s and parents’ first attempts at climbing or the little ones are already enthusiastic climbers, the climbing garden in Zans offers the right routes for everyone. This family-friendly crag at the foot of the Geislerspitzen provides exactly the setting where you can try things out, climb and learn without pressure.
After climbing, we set up an adventurous zip line, where the bravest can commit over the edge from more than 20 metres up and glide back down to the ground. Adventure, action and fun are clearly the main focus of this experience – and by the end it is usually not only the children who are thrilled.

PROGRAM
We meet in Villnöß and distribute the necessary equipment, harnesses and helmets among the group. Afterwards, we hike together to the Zans climbing garden. Even the approach along the stream to the treeline beneath the north faces of the Geislerspitzen is an impressive experience.
But that is really when our day truly begins: we set up a few routes on the rock where the children – and of course the parents too – can have a go. Whether it is a first taste of climbing or you already have a bit of experience, everyone will find suitable lines here on Dolomite rock. As soon as the hike and the climbing have made us hungry, we enjoy our picnic in nature that we brought with us.
Meanwhile, the mountain guides assemble a short via ferrata section leading to an adventurous zip line, which we build using the equipment we have brought along. Who is the bravest and dares to step over the edge first from more than 20 metres up and ride the zip line down to the ground? As the day slowly draws to a close, we hike back to the car park – and the little ones will be talking about this day for a long time to come.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.

Is the climbing day also suitable for beginners and children?
Yes, that is exactly what this experience is designed for. At the Zans climbing garden there are easy routes that are well suited to first experiences on rock. Parents without much climbing experience can also join in if they feel like spending a shared day outdoors.
What should we bring for the climbing day?
The most important things are comfortable clothing, sturdy shoes and something for a snack. A detailed packing list will be sent with the confirmation email. Technical equipment such as a helmet or harness can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
How does the day at the climbing garden unfold?
We meet in Villnöß, walk together to the crag and spend the day there climbing, taking breaks and enjoying a picnic in nature. Later, there is also a little extra: a short adventure section with a zip line, which usually creates particular excitement among children.
