ABOUT THE TRAINING
Ortovox Safety Academy - Via Ferrata and Sport Climbing for Families: A course for parents of climbing-enthusiast children. This way, the whole family can safely climb the rocks, and the little ones can have fun on via ferratas and in the sport climbing garden—well secured on the ropes of the grown-ups. What many people don't realize: Children are too light for most standardized via ferrata sets. This means they don't have the strength necessary to trigger the shock absorbers in the event of a fall. This makes climbing via ferratas dangerous for little ones, even with a via ferrata set. Furthermore, they are easily distracted and suddenly find themselves in the middle of the rock face, both carabiners in their hands, without being secured on the wire rope—and mom and dad have a few more gray hairs on their heads.
Our via ferrata course is designed to prevent this. In the future, parents won't have to constantly worry about their offspring. The little ones no longer need to be constantly reminded to be careful and concentrate, and on tricky climbing sections, they are well secured, and no one has to hold their breath to make sure they don't fall into the via ferrata set. We'll teach you some great belaying techniques in this course. Parents who haven't had any experience on via ferratas will also learn everything they need to make this sport possible for their children.
Because, dear children, we agree with you: via ferratas are much cooler than boring mountain hiking. 😉
Important: Only parents participate in the course, and our experienced mountain guides will show you the techniques we use to belay our young guests on via ferratas. This is a very effective method that increases the fun for the little ones on via ferratas and can also help them overcome their fears on challenging sections. A win-win situation for the whole family.

PROGRAM
We'll meet at a climbing garden in South Tyrol and spend a whole day addressing any questions you may have about this topic.
The course locations have been chosen so that we can learn about sport climbing and our main topic, climbing via ferratas with children, in an ideal environment and also practice extensively. We will adapt the content to the participants as needed and also address individual questions.
The course is intentionally intended for parents only, as it will also cover more tedious topics such as equipment knowledge and other important information, which doesn't exactly satisfy the kids' need for exercise.
Look forward to an educational day and plenty of interesting input! But above all, after this course day, we look forward to many wonderful, adventurous, and exciting days outdoors with the whole family for the little ones.
P.S.:
We've observed this closely and conducted many of our own studies: The grumbling, grumbling, and complaining factor of children on via ferratas is significantly lower than on mountain tours that don't offer any climbing sections. Even when we wanted to entice the little ones with Wiener schnitzel and fries at the hut during our normal hikes.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
