PROGRAM
Day 1:
We will meet at the agreed meeting point. On the first day, we will focus on equipment and reviewing the basics, as well as addressing new developments and possible schools of thought. We will also practice avalanche search and companion rescue, as well as examine the snowpack for better understanding. Afterwards, we will head to a warmer location (bar, hotel, accommodation, etc.) and focus on tour planning.
Day 2:
This intensive avalanche course focuses on the complete process for self-guided ski tours. We will work together on everything from tour planning and selecting the right tour for the prevailing conditions to the complete execution. During the tours themselves, we will take the time to focus on everything we see in the terrain and to incorporate various exercises. The tours will not be too long so that the focus remains on the course character, and we can teach you as much as possible about ski touring and avalanche knowledge. In the evening, we will review the day and discuss where our expectations from our planning at home matched what we actually experienced on the tour, and where there were any deviations. The goal is to be able to plan future tours so that there are as few surprises as possible along the way.
Day 3:
The last day will also be spent outdoors in the backcountry. Whether we do a longer tour or take more time to practice will be decided together, adapting to the group's wishes. An intensive course with plenty of practical input and beautiful days out in the snow concludes in the early afternoon. We will have intensively expanded our knowledge of avalanches, snow mechanics, tour planning, and group dynamics, and will be a little more confident on ski tours in the future.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
