ABOUT THE TRIP

A week of climbing in Finale Ligure – rough limestone, technical moves, and afterwards the sea, the old town, and pasta.
7 days

Finale Ligure, with more than 3,000 climbing routes, is one of the largest sport climbing areas in Europe. Climbing has been pursued here intensively since the 1970s and 1980s, making Finale one of Italy’s most traditional climbing destinations. Especially on Monte Cucco, at Rocca di Corno and Rocca di Perti, some of the first routes were developed practically at the very beginning of sport climbing.

The range of climbable crags in and around Finale is enormous. The climbing is highly technical and ideal for refining your own climbing technique. Once your fingers are sore from the rough limestone slabs, Finale also has plenty more to offer. Bays, towns, and culinary delights with excellent Italian cuisine round off this climbing trip and make it a thoroughly successful week – with a very good chance of making real progress in your climbing technique.

PROGRAM

Day 1: Journey to Finale
We either meet directly in Finale Ligure – we will define the exact meeting point after booking – or at a suitable meeting point from where we set off together by car or minibus. Once we arrive in Finale, we move into our accommodation and may still have time to do a bit of shopping in town so that we are well prepared for the coming climbing days. In the evening, over a relaxed dinner, we listen to the participants’ wishes and goals and put together a shared, individual programme for the next few days.

Day 2–6: Climb, Chill, Eat, Sleep, Repeat
Five full days of climbing on superb limestone, in brilliant sectors and beautiful surroundings. We will quickly notice how our climbing technique, and especially our footwork, adapts to the climbing in Finale, and how we improve from day to day. Plenty of climbing tips help to accelerate this development even further. Which areas we head for depends on the group’s wishes, ability and mood – and that is exactly what makes this trip so relaxed and at the same time so rewarding.

When our strength begins to fade, we round off the days in the old town centres, for example in Finalborgo or Castelbianco, with a cold blonde beer, a gelato, and later an excellent evening meal. The Ligurian coast also beckons with bays where we can enjoy some well-earned cooling off on hot days. One thing is certain: we will not be short of opportunities to turn this week into a thoroughly successful climbing trip with a fantastic supporting programme.

Day 7: Journey home
The skin on our fingers is finally worn through, our arms are pumped, our muscles hardened, and our climbing technique polished. Happy and hopefully more than satisfied, we set off home on the seventh day – and perhaps in the days that follow we will already test our improved climbing level back home on our local wall or at the crag.
