ABOUT THE TRIP

Tenerife Climbing Trip: Tenerife is a gem for sport climbing enthusiasts. The island has a relatively young climbing history, and especially in the more recent past, a group of motivated locals has developed the island's incredibly diverse and stunningly beautiful climbing areas. From climbing directly above the roaring sea to the crags at over 2,000 meters at the foot of Spain's highest mountain, the 3,718-meter-high Pico del Teide, it's all there. The peak acts like a watershed, dividing the island into a lush green northern part and a dry southern part with cacti and hardwood trees, giving the relatively small island two completely different faces and an incredible diversity – both in terms of landscape and climbing technique. So, what about Tenerife, the island for retirees?

PROGRAM

Day 1: Arrival
We'll meet directly on Tenerife at Tenerife South Airport. We'll coordinate flights together, and I'm happy to help with booking. Once we're all settled in, we'll get a rental car for the next 7 days. Our first destination will be the Tenerife Climbing House in Arico, on the southern part of the island. We'll stay here for a total of 4 nights. Over dinner, we'll put together a great program for the next few days based on your climbing level and your preferences.

Days 2-3: Climbing on the southern part of the island
Around Arico, there are many wonderful and diverse climbing areas that we'll visit during the first 2 days. We'll focus intensively on climbing technique and other climbing-related topics. And, of course, we'll climb as long as we can. We'll end the evenings with a shared dinner in the cozy atmosphere of the Tenerife Climbing House.

Day 4: Excursion to the Eastern Part of Tenerife
Afterward, it's time for a rest day, during which we'll explore the island and its breathtakingly beautiful landscapes. We'll have plenty of options – we'll choose where to go depending on our mood. A change of accommodation is also on the agenda.

Day 5: Climbing in the Northern Part of the Island
On the fifth day, we'll explore the climbing opportunities in the northern part of the island. Here, too, there are many interesting options, and we'll be spoiled for choice.

Day 6: Pico del Teide
An absolute highlight will be the ascent of Pico del Teide – Spain's highest mountain, which is also responsible for the formation of the entire island. The volcano offers incredible landscapes and beautiful panoramas of the entire island and the surrounding Canary Islands.

Day 7: Climbing on the northern part of the island
Day 7 gives us another opportunity to visit one of the great climbing crags in the northern part of the island or the wonderful crag at the foot of Pico del Teide and mobilize our last remaining strength and skin reserves.

Day 8: Departure
Then the eighth and final day for us on Tenerife has arrived. However, we won't leave the island without taking back some great and priceless memories of this Canary Island, unfairly known as a retirement island. With plenty of self-confidence and newly acquired climbing skills, we can't wait to get back home and tackle our climbing projects or even find new goals.

Sounds good, but not perfect?

No problem: This is just an idea of how the program for trip could look like. The duration can be extended or shortened as desired. I would be happy to put together a customized itinerary for you or a group, tailored entirely to your ideas and wishes.

Simply send us a non-binding inquiry using the form above.

Any changes to the travel program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
