ABOUT THE TRIP
Lyngen - Ski Touring Trip: Lyngen is located in the far north of Norway, more precisely 350 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. This means that the sun doesn't rise here from the end of November to mid-January. In March or April, when we plan our trip to Lyngen, the days will already be roughly as long as they are in the Alps during midwinter. This means more than enough daylight for unforgettable ski tours from the peaks up to 1,800 meters high all the way to the beaches of the North Sea. After dinner, as soon as it gets dark, we'll set out to search for the mystical and breathtaking Northern Lights; the chances of seeing them are particularly good in this region. We'll stay in a cozy apartment with a private sauna, where we can relax and recharge after our ski tours.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Ski tours over glaciated peaks right to the beaches of the North Sea
- Relaxing in the hotel's sauna after the tours
- Northern Lights, which we will definitely track down and have a good chance of seeing some
- Visiting Tromso, home to the world's northernmost university and cathedral

PROGRAM
Day 1: Arrival
We will fly from our hometown to the far north of Norway. We will meet either at the departure airport, at the transfer station in Oslo, or directly at the airport in Tromso. I will coordinate our flights there, depending on availability. Afterwards, we will pick up our rental car and drive approximately 1.5 hours to our accommodation on the Lyngen Peninsula. Over dinner, we will put together a fantastic itinerary for the next 6 days of touring, depending on the snow conditions, the group's ability, and the weather.
Days 2-7:
We have a total of 6 days to enjoy some unforgettable ski touring on the Lyngen Peninsula. The options are ideal, with tours of all levels of difficulty, orientation, and steepness. There's also the opportunity for some fantastic traverses. We will try to maximize the potential of this area. After the ski tours, we'll relax in the hotel's sauna before heading out into the beautiful nature of Lyngen after dinner for anyone who's up for it to look for the mystical Northern Lights. Our chances here are particularly good, as Lyngen is located at exactly the ideal latitude. After a few days, whenever we need a break or if the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll explore Tromso with its very own Nordic flair.
Day 8: Departure
After 7 days in the far north, it's time to say goodbye. One last time, we'll pass the snow-covered mountains of the Lyngen Alps, and one or two fond memories of the past week will resurface. Once we arrive in Tromso, the plane will take us back home and into springtime.
Sounds good, but not perfect?
No problem: This is just an idea of how the program for trip could look like. The duration can be extended or shortened as desired. I would be happy to put together a customized itinerary for you or a group, tailored entirely to your ideas and wishes.
