Rötspitze - Normal Route: Rötspitze is one of the most impressive peaks in the Venedigergruppe. The tour offers glacier terrain as well as enjoyable blocky ridge climbing to the summit, from where you get deep views towards the Ahrntal and across the wildly broken Umbalkees – for a few moments, it almost feels like the Western Alps. The tour is rounded off with an overnight stay at the Lenkjöchlhütte. There is also the option of climbing Dreiherrenspitze on an additional day.

PROGRAM
Day 1: Ascent to the hut
Starting from the car park at the nature park house in Kasern, the meeting point for this alpine tour, we set off towards the Lenkjöchlhütte. Other meeting points and arranging a car share can be organised individually when booking. Once everything has been checked and the necessary equipment is in the rucksack, we get going. Passing various remains of the old mine, we head into the Röttal and follow it up to the Lenkjöchlhütte.
Walking time: 3.5 hrs | ↑ 1,000 m
⌂ Lenkjöchlhütte (2,603 m)
Day 2: Summit via the ridge
On the second day, we set off towards the summit. First, we cross rough rocky ground and blocks to reach the glacier, then continue up it to the so-called Little Rötspitze. Along the ridge, broad at first but then becoming narrower and more engaging, we climb in enjoyable blocky terrain all the way to the summit of Rötspitze. We return along our ascent route back to the Lenkjöchlhütte and then descend to Kasern.
Total time: 7.5 hrs | ↑ 900 m | ↓ 1,900 m | Difficulty: PD, III-
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - (FAQs)
What experience should I have for Rötspitze?
For Rötspitze, you should be sure-footed and already have experience on an alpine tour. The route crosses glacier terrain and also includes easy climbing sections on the ridge, so good fitness and confident movement in blocky terrain are very helpful.
What equipment do I need?
You will receive the detailed kit list with the confirmation email. Most important are sturdy mountaineering boots and suitable clothing for high alpine terrain. Technical equipment can be hired for a small wear-and-tear fee.
Can the tour be combined with Dreiherrenspitze?
Yes, very easily. If you would like to add an extra day, Dreiherrenspitze can be sensibly combined with the overnight stay at the Lenkjöchlhütte. It is best to discuss this directly when booking.
