Rosengarten ski tour - Antermoia circuit: A special ski tour for ski tourers with excellent stamina amid an impressive landscape. Anyone who does not shy away from the effort and is prepared to take on several ascents and a total of 1,700 vertical metres will be rewarded with a unique ski touring experience. A circuit that ranks among the most scenic, even in the Dolomites.
After the first ascent, almost half of the vertical metres are done, followed by an impressive descent down into the Grasleitenkessel, into the heart of the Rosengarten. Each of the following three ascents is a little shorter, but the scenery remains varied and unique. Time and again you catch yourself simply gazing at the landscape, mouth wide open. If it were not for the hefty daily workload you have to get through, you could lose yourself completely among these snow-covered rock faces in the realm of King Laurin.
By the time his legendary Rosengarten glows in all its splendour in the evening sun, however, you should be back on the Seiser Alm, admiring the play of colours from afar over a well-earned break at a hut. Even though this natural spectacle is short-lived, the memories of this tour certainly are not – they will stay with you for a long time.

PROGRAMME
Day 1: Grand circuit in the Rosengarten
The meeting point is at the valley station of the gondola to the Seiser Alm. We continue either by car or by cable car to Kompatsch and take the first bus to Saltria. This is where the first ascent begins, up to the Molignon Pass. A first magnificent descent follows, down into the Grasleitenkessel. The next ascent to the Grasleitenpass Hut can already be seen clearly from the pass. At the hut, however, the second ascent is not yet over: we continue along the faces of the Kesselkogel to the highest point of the tour, the Antermoia Pass.
The second descent takes us down to Lake Antermoia, and shortly before the hut of the same name we climb up left to the next pass, then ski steeply down the other side into the Durontal. A superb descent, often with good powder snow. Now only the last ascent to the Mahlknechtjoch lies ahead of us, after which we return to Saltria. In total, this tour has four different ascents to tackle – and just as many magnificent descents to enjoy. All this in a fascinating landscape – what more could a (very fit) skier's heart desire?

Who is the Antermoia circuit suitable for?
The tour is aimed at ski tourers with excellent stamina who can comfortably handle a long day with several ascents and a total of around 1,700 vertical metres. Technically, the circuit is graded ZS (ski tour), i.e. fairly difficult.
How is the day organised?
The meeting point is at the valley station of the gondola to the Seiser Alm. From there we head to Kompatsch and continue on the first bus to Saltria, where the tour starts. Without the cable car, the approach takes about 1 hour longer and adds 300 vertical metres.
What equipment do I need for the tour?
You need the usual ski touring equipment, above all touring skis with skins and suitable safety equipment. The detailed packing list comes with the confirmation email. Any missing equipment can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
