ABOUT THE TOUR
The Delagokante on the Vajolet Towers is a great Dolomites classic on a slender rock needle in the Rosengarten massif.

The Vajolet Towers rise like rock needles in the Rosengarten massif and are clearly visible even from Bolzano. It is one of the great classics of the Dolomites and a wonderfully exposed summit — all attainable at moderate difficulty. The Delagoturm was first climbed solo on 22 September 1895 by Hermann Delago. The first ascent of the Delagokante was completed on 9 August 1911 by Giovanni Battista Piaz, Francesco Jori and Irma Glaser.

PROGRAM
Day 1: Approach to the hut
Because of the long approach, I recommend an overnight stay at the Gartlhütte or at the slightly lower Vajolethütte. When booking, we will arrange a meeting point or head up together to the hut on the day before the planned tour.

Day 2: Climb the Delagokante
After the approach, we start this route: from the Gartlhütte it is 10 minutes, from the Vajolethütte about 1 hour. The very first pitches are already a climbing pleasure. Steep terrain with solid holds leads upward directly to the ridge.
Then the exposed pitches of the Delagokante follow, leading toward the summit with deep views stretching as far as Bolzano. The bold summit itself offers relatively little space on this slender needle. Afterwards, we return directly to the base of the route via the excellently equipped abseil line. This tour is always a special experience for me as well, because it was my very first alpine tour, which I had the chance to do at the age of thirteen. That experience lit the spark for alpine climbing.

How demanding is the Delagokante?
The route is graded IV+ and follows a very exposed ridge on the Delagoturm. If you already have solid rock climbing experience and feel comfortable in alpine terrain, this is the right route for you.
How does the two-day tour work?
On the first day, you hike up to the Gartlhütte or the Vajolethütte. On the second day, you go to the start of the route and climb the Delagokante to the summit, then return via the abseil line. Around 3 hours are planned for summit day starting from the Gartlhütte.
What do I need to bring for the tour?
You will receive the detailed packing list with the confirmation email. Most important are mountaineering boots and suitable clothing for the hut approach and the climbing day. Technical equipment can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
