Villnösser Geisler - alpine climbing: climbing on the Villnösser Geisler mostly takes place far from the crowds. Although you climb in pleasant sunshine all day here, it is rarely busy.
Beautiful routes lead enjoyably up the Kleine Fermeda or Große Fermeda, the Odla de Cisles or the Sas de Mesdi. Depending on the tour and choice of route, this becomes a fairly relaxed climbing day or a really fine alpine undertaking with a long approach, airy climbing and a descent that demands concentration once more.

PROGRAMME
Day 1: Climbing day on the Geisler
We meet at the valley station of the Col Raiser cable car in St. Christina and ride comfortably up to the top station. The south side of the Villnösser Geisler is already in view, and we cross beautiful alpine meadows to the start of our route.
Here there are countless options for climbing one of the many towers. Each one is an adventure in itself. Whether we end up climbing on the Kleine Fermeda, the Große Fermeda, the Odla de Cisles or the Sas de Mesdi: a climbing adventure on a wild, unspoilt Dolomite face is practically guaranteed here.
Best of all, the faces are south-facing, so in good weather you can climb in a T-shirt on many days of the year. The descents are complex and still require our full attention. But that is all part of it here and rounds off a long, full climbing day on the Geisler.
Info: Without the cable car, the approach takes approx. 1.5 h and 600 m of ascent longer.
Any changes to the programme that may become necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, availability of accommodation, etc.) are always made in consultation with the participants.

You should already have some climbing experience and feel comfortable in alpine terrain. Which route makes sense depends very much on your ability. We choose the tour so that it suits you and the day on the Villnösser Geisler comes together perfectly.
What do I need to take on the tour?
Above all, you need mountain boots and suitable climbing clothing. You will receive the detailed packing list with the confirmation email. Technical equipment can be rented from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
Can the route be chosen at short notice depending on conditions?
Yes, that is often the big advantage here. Depending on the weather, the conditions and your level, we decide on the spot which line on the Kleine Fermeda, the Große Fermeda, the Odla de Cisles or the Sas de Mesdi suits best.
