ABOUT THE TOUR
Weißkugel - Normal Route: The Weißkugel is one of the most beautiful and highest peaks in South Tyrol and the entire Eastern Alps. The ascent from the quaint Matschertal Valley leads through enchanting forests up into the high alpine landscape, where the Oberetteshütte is located at 2,677 meters. The hut is lovingly run, is very comfortable and cozy, and the food is sensational. The ascent to the Weißkugel the next morning is varied and, in addition to impressive glacier surfaces, a steeper snow face, the so-called "Matscher Wandl" (Matscher Wandl), and, as a grand finale, a short but beautiful and enjoyable summit ridge, can definitely be counted among the most impressive and scenic high-altitude tours in the Eastern Alps.

PROGRAM
We meet either directly at the starting point for this high-altitude tour at the Glieshof at the end of the Matschertal valley in the early afternoon or directly at the Oberetteshütte in the late afternoon.
From the Glieshof, the Oberetteshütte can be reached in about 3 hours.
On the second day, after a delicious breakfast, we set off early toward the summit. From the hut, we follow the well-marked trail (5b) to a small lake at 3,000 meters. From here, a path leads us a short way down to the foothills of the Matscher Ferner glacier.
We continue across the impressive glacier, quite spectacular due to its numerous crevasses, toward the Hintereisjoch and up the "Matscher Wandl," a short steep slope to the beginning of the final rocky ridge.
We reach the summit via beautiful and exposed, but not difficult, ridge climbing (I).
The summit of the Weißkugel presents itself as a stunning panoramic mountain, which we will hopefully see with our own eyes in perfect weather.
The return journey takes the same route.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
