ABOUT THE TOUR
Zugspitze - Eisenzeit: The Zugspitze is Germany's highest peak and is one of the Seven Summits of the Alps. This historic route through the north face, which was boldly exploited by the cog railway tunnel builders, was long forgotten and only recently rediscovered. It offers a fantastic climbing experience along old paths with exciting insights. The climb in the lower section of the wall leads along historic paths, over iron ladders, and through the old tunnels. In the upper section, the wall becomes steeper and less visible – but without exceeding grade IV. A wonderful experience and a fantastic way to reach the summit of the Zugspitze away from the tourist crowds.

PROGRAM
We meet at the parking lot of the cog railway at Eibsee in Grainau. After a quick gear check, we set off in the dark to the start of our route up the northwest face of the Riffelwandspitzen. We ascend higher on the dilapidated paths built by the tunnel builders in 1928. Over old ladders and past the tunnel holes, we face difficulties up to grade IV. At the end of the old paths, the wall becomes more alpine, steeper, and less visible. With a good sense for the right route selection, we reach the Riffelgrat after several pitches. We climb the Höllentalsteig trail the last few meters to the highest point of the Zugspitze at 2,962 meters. The descent is then comfortably made by cable car.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
