ABOUT THE TOUR

Breithorn - Normal Route: The Breithorn is generally considered the easiest four-thousand-meter peak in the Alps. It is a border mountain on the main Alpine ridge, separating the Italian Aosta Valley from the Swiss canton of Valais. The area between the Breithorn and the Matterhorn is almost entirely accessible by cable cars, and it boasts the highest ski slope in Europe. This fact is precisely why the Breithorn attracts many climbs. Cable cars comfortably take you up to the Klein Matterhorn at 3,796 meters. From there, you descend to the Breithorn Pass and climb the southwest slope without any significant technical difficulties to the highest of the five peaks, the Breithorn. Nevertheless, the Breithorn is a beautiful mountain that should not be underestimated. Not only does it present an imposing image, but its prominent neighbours also offer an incomparable panorama. Some of the most beautiful and impressive peaks in the entire Alps are strung together in an almost extravagant row. Matterhorn, Obergabelhorn, Zinalrothorn, Dent Blanche and Weisshorn on one side of the valley and Monte Rosa massif, Dom and Täschhorn on the other side.

PROGRAM

We meet at 7:00 a.m. at the valley station of the Matterhorn Express. After a quick equipment check, we head to the valley station of the cable car and purchase a ticket for Klein Matterhorn. The Matterhorn Express takes you comfortably up to 3,883 meters in just under 40 minutes. The cable car ride itself is spectacular and unique in this form in the world.

As soon as we arrive at the mountain station, we finally head out into the beautiful glacier world. We first descend gently to the Breithorn plateau and then make our way to the westernmost and highest point (4,163 meters) of the Breithorn, which consists of five peaks.

Thanks to the active support of the cable car, we climb 300 meters to the summit, where we are rewarded with an incredible panorama. We will have plenty of time to fully enjoy this summit bliss and savor the surrounding summit cinema before we begin our descent.

It is an ideal introductory tour to a four-thousand-meter peak in the Alps, for anyone who wants to experience this feeling, even if they are less physically fit, have little mountain experience, or simply want to spend an enjoyable day at high altitude.

Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
