PROGRAM
Day 1: At the Sport Climbing Garden
Content:
Alpine climbing procedures, belay station construction, knot tying, placing portable belay devices, installing hooks, and climbing with half rope technique
Procedure:
We will spend the entire day at a climbing garden, working intensively on the basics, primarily on the ground, so that we are ready for our first alpine climbing tour on the second day. After a brief introduction and gear introduction, we will focus on belay station construction and attaching portable belay devices. Two fundamental topics for safe alpine climbing, especially in the Dolomites, where a lot of initiative is often required. We will examine and practice all the necessary knots, as well as the procedure for multi-pitch routes and learn and practice valuable tips and tricks for belay station procedures.
Day 2: Multi-pitch tour with bolts
Content: Independently plan and climb an alpine tour, apply the learning content from Day 1, optimize the belay procedure, and abseil – all on a well-protected multi-pitch tour.
Procedure:
The evening before, we will plan a multi-pitch tour together for the next day. We will receive valuable tips on what you can glean from topos and how to decide what gear to bring the next day. The second day will be entirely dedicated to our planned tour. We will choose a route that is not too long so that we can continually address different learning topics and optimize the procedures along the way. At the end of the tour, we will also learn and practice the correct and most efficient abseiling procedure.
Day 3: Alpine Multi-Pitch Tour
Content: Independently plan and climb an alpine tour, apply the learning content from Days 1 and 2, optimize the belay sequence, and abseil – all this on more alpine tours, where a little more initiative is required.
Procedure:
The third-day tour is planned independently by the participants. Each rope team plans a tour, considers the necessary equipment, the challenges they will face on the tour, and how the approach and descent will proceed. At the end, we decide together which route we will climb.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
