PROGRAM
Day 1: Hut Approach, Basics, and Equipment Knowledge
We will meet at an individually agreed meeting point and conduct a brief equipment check at the starting point of our glacier course before beginning the ascent to the hut. In the afternoon, we will review the equipment required for glacier tours and the basics of glacier walking. We will also cover orientation and map reading.
Day 2: Rope-up and belay methods, proper use of crampons and ice axes, arresting falls, crevasse rescue, and trip planning
On the second day, we will head out onto the glacier and learn various exercises and techniques related to rope techniques, belay techniques, and arresting falls. We will also look at the options available to our fellow climbers in the event of a member of our own rope team falling into a crevasse – and how to extricate ourselves from a predicament inside a crevasse. Returning to the hut later in the afternoon, we will provide valuable tips and information on trip planning. The task will then be to independently plan a practice tour of one of the surrounding peaks for the third day.
Day 3: Practice Tour
The third day will be entirely dedicated to the tour planned the previous evening. All learning content will be incorporated into this day, and we will implement everything we have learned to safely reach the summit and return to the parking lot.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
