ABOUT THE TRAINING
Alpine Touring Course (Glacier Course) - Introductory Course: Experience the allure of the high Alpine peaks with their breathtaking glaciers. While these are unfortunately doomed to disappear in the long run, we are fortunate to live in a time where we can still experience this mighty natural phenomenon. In order to approach the mountains and the dangers their glaciers hold with the necessary respect, certain safety methods are required, which we will explore in this introductory course during a fantastic alpine tour.

PROGRAM
Day 1: Hut Ascent and Basics for Safe Travel on Glaciers, as well as Equipment Knowledge
We will meet at an individually agreed meeting point and conduct a brief equipment check at the starting point of our introductory tour before beginning the ascent to the hut. At the hut, we will discuss basic aspects of staying safe on glaciers and alpine hazards to be aware of. We will also review our equipment and learn the most important techniques to be well-equipped for our introductory tour the next morning (putting on a harness, fitting crampons and walking correctly, and handling a glacier ice axe). We will also cover tour planning, time management, and orientation, which are essential basic skills on glaciers.
Day 2: Introductory Tour, as well as roping and belaying methods
The next morning, we set off early toward the glacier and onto the first glaciated ice axe. We will apply all the theoretical knowledge learned during the lecture and try out the various techniques in practice. What does a rope team on a glacier look like, how is it roped up, and what basic rules should be followed to safely navigate the labyrinth of crevasses?
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
