PROGRAM
Day 1:
Content:
- Basics of sport climbing
- Rope technique
- Belaying technique
- Equipment and material knowledge
- Top rope climbing
We will meet at 9 a.m. at a meeting point, which we will individually arrange based on the season and personal preferences (for example, directly at your vacation destination). Depending on availability, we will head to an ideal sport climbing garden or, in adverse weather conditions, to the nearest climbing hall.
First, there will be a brief introduction to the sport to provide an overview of the diverse possibilities and requirements.
Afterward, we will immediately familiarize ourselves with the most important equipment (climbing harness, rope, and belay device) and learn the basics.
We will first practice the procedures for belaying and lowering to the ground, and then we will begin climbing. On the first day, we will primarily climb top rope.
Day 2:
Contents:
- Lead climbing
- Falling correctly
- Holding falls correctly
- Climbing technique
On the second day, we will focus on lead climbing, which again requires slightly modified belaying methods. We will also learn how to properly thread the rope around the anchor if there is no locking carabiner, as is common in many climbing gardens.
Another important topic we will learn once we move on to lead climbing is how to fall correctly and, especially for the belayer, how to hold a fall correctly. Both are important aspects for avoiding injuries.
For the rest of the day, we will apply, practice, and refine the techniques we have learned, as well as hone our own climbing technique.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
