ABOUT THE TOUR
Lagginhorn - South Ridge: The Lagginhorn is the slightly smaller neighbor of the Weissmies. Unlike the Weissmies, which boasts a wild glacial flank, the Lagginhorn is accessible virtually without glacier contact. It is also considered one of the easier 4,000-meter peaks. The normal route via the West Ridge leads to the summit via some easy climbing sections and a lot of boulder terrain. We will use this route for the descent. The route via the South Ridge is much more rewarding for the ascent – one of the most beautiful and enjoyable rocky ridges in the Western Alps. Despite the generally low difficulty, the climbing is a dream; the rock is rock-solid, and the ambiance is absolutely magnificent. With this route combination, the easy Lagginhorn becomes a somewhat more difficult but all the more beautiful traverse and a fantastic ridge tour that everyone must do at least once, and is ideal for practicing for larger and more difficult ridges.

PROGRAM
Day 1: Hohsass Hut
We meet in the afternoon at the valley station of the Hohsaas cable car (or directly at the Hohsaas Hut). The Hohsaas Hut is easily accessible by cable car – you get off the cable car practically next to the hut. At the hut, we briefly discuss our plans for the next day.
Day 2: Lagginhorn
The next morning, after a leisurely breakfast, we set off toward the Lagginjoch, which we reach after about an hour's hike. Here is the entrance to the ridge. We rope up and begin the initially easy ascent. Over several ridge rises and gendarmes, we continue along the fairly long ridge toward the summit. Wonderfully exposed sections, which are always climbed using excellent holds, alternate with easier passages that allow for rapid progress. This is a good thing, as the ridge is quite long. After 4-6 hours of ridge climbing, we reach the summit. The descent along the western flank via the normal route requires concentration, but is technically easy. After a short climb, we return to our starting point at the Hohsaas Hut and take a leisurely cable car ride back down to the valley.
Info: This tour can be perfectly extended by another day, during which we can also climb the Lagginhorn's neighbor, the Weissmies. This would complete the ascent of all the four-thousand-meter peaks on this side of the Saas Valley. The Weissmies offers a wonderful contrast to the Lagginhorn with its wild glacial crevasses, which we must negotiate. Price and further information are available upon request.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
