ABOUT THE TOUR
Marmolada - Via Ferrata: The Marmolada via ferrata (also known as the Hans Seyffert Trail) leading along the western ridge is one of the oldest via ferratas. The tour is a perfect blend of a via ferrata, which we will tackle on the ascent, and a glacier high-altitude tour, which this crossing becomes on the descent. All in all, it is one of the most rewarding, enjoyable adventures in the Dolomites and the entire Eastern Alps! The tour's truly special highlights are not to be found in a difficult via ferrata or a particularly impressive glacier, but rather in the stunning panorama that this unique Dolomite landscape has to offer. Particularly impressive is the view of the glacier with the Fédaia reservoir below to the left and the 800 m high south face to the right. All around, other mighty Dolomite walls and bold needles create a truly unique panorama.

PROGRAM
The meeting point for this tour is at the parking lot of the Fedaia Reservoir. We will briefly check our equipment at the parking lot and then set off.
From the parking lot, we ascend toward the start of the Via Ferrata della Marmolada (B) – also known as the Hans Seyffert Trail. Passing old war relics from World War I, we reach the summit of Punta Penia via the airy via ferrata.
The descent takes place via the normal route (glacier and a short via ferrata), thus becoming a complete and highly rewarding traverse of the Queen of the Dolomites.
*Please note: Following a major avalanche on December 5, 2020, which hit and destroyed the Pian dei Fiacconi Hut, it will remain closed until further notice. It will likely be rebuilt at a new location.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
