ABOUT THE TOUR

Mont Blanc - Normal Route: Highest peak in the Alps. This title alone gives Mont Blanc a very special status for mountaineers and alpinists. The white mountain has captivated climbers since time immemorial. Almost every possible climb on all sides of the mountain, and with every imaginable difficulty, seems to have been attempted. Chamonix, at its feet, is considered a mountaineering mecca of Europe. The best top alpinists mingle with the numerous recreational and hobby mountaineers. Added to this are many cable car tourists who take the cable car up to almost four thousand meters to admire this impressive backdrop of rock and ice up close. But it is even more beautiful to actually stand on the roof of the Alps. The route offers some technical challenges, but overall it is easily masterable for well-acclimatized climbers with previous high-altitude touring experience. The mountain guides take care of the rope-technical and safety-related challenges, so you can enjoy the ascent of the highest peak in the Alps and this tour becomes an unforgettable experience.

Important information:
The booking situation on the highest mountain in the Alps is catastrophic. The huts on the normal routes are hopelessly booked, and unfortunately, it's very difficult for us (non-French mountain guides) to reserve a spot in the huts.

How can it still work:
1. Early booking: The hut reservation portal opens for mountain guides at the beginning of December. Therefore, bookings for the normal route on Mont Blanc must be received and confirmed by us by the end of November for the following summer.
2. Tour dates: Dates in June and July are almost impossible to reserve. These dates are fully booked within minutes of the portal opening. Dates towards the end of the season (end of August and September) are easier to secure.
3. Alternative route: If you still want to climb Mont Blanc between June and mid-July, the normal route via the Italian side would be a good alternative. However, it is significantly longer and more demanding and therefore only recommended for very fit mountaineers!

PROGRAM

Day 1: Ascent to the Gouter Hut
We meet early in the morning in Les Houches near Chamonix at the valley station of the Bellevue cable car, where we briefly check our equipment and discuss the tour. We then take the cable car to Bellevue, where we continue on the Mont Blanc cogwheel railway to the final stop, the Nid d'Aigle, at 2,372 meters. From here, we begin our approach to the hut, our final destination. Initially, we follow easy hiking trails to the Tete Rousse Hut. Relatively soon after the hut, Mont Blanc bares its teeth for the first time. We must ascend through the dreaded Grand Couloir and then continue along the rocky ridge to the Gouter Hut.
7 hours – ↑ 1,400 meters elevation gain

Day 2: Mont Blanc and descent to the Gouter Hut
We set off from the hut early in the morning. We ascend over the glacier into the sunrise, which we experience against a breathtaking backdrop at the top of the Alps. The first part of the morning warm-up is easy. Soon we pass the bivouac. Here it becomes more challenging, and we continue our ascent via the Bossessgrat to the summit. The great altitude will now clearly be felt. After 1,000 meters of elevation gain from the Gouter Hut, we reach the summit of Mont Blanc. The panorama is overwhelming. No peak obstructs our panoramic view of the breathtaking mountain landscape. The subsequent descent takes us back along the ascent route to the Gouter Hut (where we can stay overnight to shorten the summit stage) and then back through the Grand Couloir to the Tete Rousse Hut, where we will stay for another night. At this point, we can celebrate our (hopefully successful) summit victory.
6 hours – ↑ 1,000 meters of elevation gain – ↓ 1,000 meters of elevation loss

Day 3: Descent
The next morning, we descend again through the Grand Couloir back to the Tete Rousse Hut. From there, we only have to follow an easy path back to the cog railway.
4 hours – ↓ 800 meters of elevation loss

Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
